This work depicts my mother and myself not as two separate beings, but as existing simultaneously within a single body. The figure does not refer to a memory of the past, but rather reveals a relationship that is still ongoing in the present. Protection and attachment, dependence and pressure operate simultaneously within one body, and the soft, sewn body materializes the tactile and emotional sense of this relationship. The work reflects how the relationship between my mother and me remains within the body as an ongoing condition, while also revealing a self that is continuously formed and unsettled within this relationship.
