A wide horizontal format holds layers of oil, acrylic and charcoal where connections surface from the wellspring of the subconscious. Returning to a familiar motif, the work treats repetition as a way of finding what was not seen the first time.

Parvit Pichienrangsan (b. 1993), who works under the name Tae Parvit, lives in Bangkok and expresses abstractions of reality through a wide range of means. Though he practices predominantly as a painter, his output has spanned animation, digital drawing, screen printing, publication, music, performance and mural painting, and his paintings carry the traits of those genres in their movement, texture and narrative. He takes inspiration from personal experience and the world around him, yet the works go beyond autobiography, drawing viewers into realms of color where images, times and stories meet in harmony and counterpoint. Having graduated in graphic design from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, he came to painting with limited formal training in the tradition and developed a self taught command of color, scale and composition to carry particular moods and feelings. Whether he paints spontaneously or works from preparatory sketches, the finished paintings release an energetic flood of consciousness drawn from the subconscious, and that palpable energy has become a defining element across the whole of his practice, pulling audiences into a multi sensorial environment that generates a sense of community. Since graduating he has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Thailand and abroad, including two solo exhibitions and a special project at Bangkok CityCity Gallery. He co-founded the self publishing collective Interesting Pictures, through which he has produced artist books and publications, and his work is held in private collections around the world.

Bangkok Kunsthalle is an artist driven institution devoted to art, cinema, music, dance, literature and architecture, presenting a new model of art museum. It occupies the former Thai Watana Panich building, a leading printing house founded in 1935 that was razed by fire in 2001 and left dormant for twenty three years before reopening as an art space in January 2024. Situated where the Phadung Krung Kasem canal divides the old and new city on the edge of Bangkok’s Chinatown, the raw industrial complex is reactivated with each exhibition, as invited artists are commissioned to make site specific works that respond to the building and the visual language of its surroundings. Alongside exhibitions of Thai and international artists, the institution runs a moving image program and a public program of talks, lectures, workshops, screenings and readings, aiming to serve as a focal point for creative dialogue across Southeast Asia.
