Nicholas Grapia (b. 1990, Philippines) resides and works in Germany. Grapia intertwines research, popular culture, and personal and art historical narratives into his bright visual works, intervening in historical records. He also explores themes of race and sexual vulnerability by investigating who is excluded from mainstream narratives. In 2019, Grapia completed his Master's degree in Fine Arts at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in Germany. He has held solo exhibitions at various venues, including Kunsthal Aarhus in Aarhus, Denmark, Andersen’s Contemporary in Copenhagen, Denmark, and his first solo exhibition at Peres Projects in 2021. Additionally, he has exhibited at Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Germany, Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf, Germany, KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, Germany, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Germany, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Poland, Mudam in Luxembourg, and Copenhagen Contemporary in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is set to hold a solo exhibition at Peres Projects in Milan this fall.

Founded by Javier Peres in 2002, Peres Projects is a contemporary art gallery promoting contemporary international artists to a global audience. The gallery represents and supports a diverse group of artists throughout their careers, who often demonstrate inter-disciplinary, and experimental practices. The program focuses on nurturing ambitious projects by the represented artists, in dialogue with leading institutions and scholars, with the goal of expanding their presence internationally. Since the gallery’s inception, it has operated project spaces and presented important exhibitions of contemporary art internationally. Currently it has locations in Berlin, Seoul and Milan.
