Kim paints the places she inhabits and the objects she encounters along her walks, pursuing a practice that values life and existence in themselves, without the need for grand purposes. At the center of her work are man-made structures on the urban periphery, such as installations near the Han River, communication towers, and piers. By layering and recombining multiple photographs of these subjects, she constructs psychological and structural landscapes on canvas that transcend the representation of a single scene.
