Jina Jung (b.1990) works in painting and video, building on a foundation in Korean painting followed by study in new technology. She completed her MPS at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Her ongoing concern is how landscape should be rendered by an artist who, like everyone today, is accustomed to digital screens and the colors they produce. Across series such as Landscape Elements, she composes her canvases from colors and forms that imitate the nature encountered on the web and in digital space, at times describing a specific subject such as a flower bud, a willow, or a cloud, and at other times letting simple shape and color alone call a landscape to mind. Composition, color, empty space, and the stroke are her central devices. Fragmented colors and strokes are arranged so that they seem to break and connect again, allowing the viewer's gaze to travel from one part of the surface to another and to remain inside the painting. Rather than describing what we see with precision, she builds visual devices that permit a different reading on each viewing, staying deliberately between abstraction and concrete landscape.

Directed by an architect, “The Untitled Void” is a space intended for thought, inviting the formulation of new and living questions rather than the simple display of packaged conclusions.
