The second of the pair continues across three panels, where forms emerge from fragments of diverse realities rather than from a single observed scene. The artist understands all things as interconnected across time and space, and the work invites the viewer to consider objects and events of the past, present and future through that lens.

Apichaya Wannakit (b. 2000, Thailand) graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University. Her paintings draw on a range of techniques in color and texture to explore the relationship between her identity and her surroundings, where those surroundings extend past physical objects and people to the cultural forms and social reflections that question and shape her sense of self. Working through the language of painting, she sets out to convey the process of self construction. She understands all things as interconnected across time and space, and sees even imagined imagery as emerging from fragments of diverse realities. Her method gathers experience, memory, truth and narrative into a single visual language, and the forms in her work invite the viewer to consider objects and events of the past, present and future through the lens of interconnected experience. In 2025 she became the first Thai artist selected for a residency at Palazzo Monti in Brescia, Italy, through Bangkok Kunsthalle’s collaboration with the Fertile program. During the residency she produced the large scale oil painting Legacy: between absence and eternity and a smaller Untitled, both shaped by attentiveness to what is given through human encounter. The larger work places her body twice within one space to hold two perspectives, origin and present, using repetition as a way of looking back across distance, while the smaller piece turns toward a more intimate meditation on separation and self perception.

Bangkok Kunsthalle is an artist driven institution devoted to art, cinema, music, dance, literature and architecture, presenting a new model of art museum. It occupies the former Thai Watana Panich building, a leading printing house founded in 1935 that was razed by fire in 2001 and left dormant for twenty three years before reopening as an art space in January 2024. Situated where the Phadung Krung Kasem canal divides the old and new city on the edge of Bangkok’s Chinatown, the raw industrial complex is reactivated with each exhibition, as invited artists are commissioned to make site specific works that respond to the building and the visual language of its surroundings. Alongside exhibitions of Thai and international artists, the institution runs a moving image program and a public program of talks, lectures, workshops, screenings and readings, aiming to serve as a focal point for creative dialogue across Southeast Asia.
