Nonsenso

Nonsenso works primarily in papier collé, cutting and pasting paper, and has been extending that practice into formal experiments that bring other materials into the work. Fragmenting images and forms and compressing them into new arrangements, she builds relation and tension within the picture plane, concentrating on the sensation that form itself produces rather than on explaining meaning. What holds her attention is the way a shape refuses to settle into a fixed meaning and instead enters into different relations depending on how it is placed. Her material comes from the world that makes up daily life, forests, trees, and nights among them, together with the floating memories and emotions she gathers while looking at them. Layering surface over surface and scattering color against color, she fills the gaps within a space and connects what lies inside with what lies outside.
