The artist takes classical images—once rich with detail, symbolism, and narrative—as the starting point of the work. Rather than reproducing these historical images, the artist reinterprets them through the visual language of the digital age. In particular, visual memories from the 1990s—such as doodles made in MS Paint, the crude effects of PowerPoint, and the 3D curves of Windows screen savers—remain important references in the artist’s understanding of digital imagery. Drawing from these memories, the artist reconstructs images using thick, flowing lines reminiscent of Photoshop’s 3D brush effects and gradient transitions. The intricate details of classical imagery are deconstructed into formal elements such as color, shape, and texture, then reorganized like overlapping digital layers. These digitally generated compositions are subsequently translated into acrylic paintings through the repetitive processes of layering and drying paint. The work brings together the richness of classical imagery and the simplified visual language of digital media within a single pictorial space, exploring how our modes of experience have changed over time. Through this process, the artist raises questions about the nature of reality today and how images and experiences come to acquire meaning in a contemporary visual environment.
