CDA is a gallery stands for ‘Creative’, ‘Discovery’, and ‘Appreciation’. The gallery mainly presents creative activities in various fields of contemporary visual arts in the form of exhibitions. CDA exhibition mainly focuses on paintings but subjects to all kinds of genres and mediums such as sculpture, prints, photography, animation, and video. The form of the exhibitions is also balanced, with a mix of solo and group exhibitions, as well as art fairs and collaborative projects. We sincerely hope that our activities will serve as a spark for the realization of meaningful projects for creators(artists) and an opportunity for audiences to expand their inspiration and collecting.

The Moon, long regarded as a mysterious presence, is depicted here through the artist's personal perspective, expressed via pixels. The piece explores the concept of enclosing the Moon within a circular canvas, a thoughtful approach that aims to highlight its enigmatic beauty. Through this unique rendering, the artist offers a fresh interpretation of the Moon, using the medium of pixels to convey a sense of wonder and depth.

The Grand Little Stone 1

Lee Seokyung (b.1995) visually unravels the refreshing moments of daily life through her paintings. She uses broad strokes of color and employs a technique called "erasure drawing," in which she leaves behind only the form of sensation before the paint dries. The brushstrokes across the canvas form continuous marks that break away from traditional conventions of intense, sustained focus, instead showcasing lively, spontaneous gestures. The works in this exhibition are part of the Island Series, which began with the bubbles Lee encountered in her everyday life, sparking her exploration of fleeting, delicate forms. For Lee, bubbles became a source of comfort, offering a curious escape for reflection amidst the exhaustion of daily life. In contrast to the harshness of the modern world, the fictional space of Bubble Island becomes a refuge—offering a serene landscape of white and blue, with open vistas that invite contemplation.

"Objecthood" is a concept that emerged from minimalism, often translated as "objecthood" or "materiality." It aims to strip objects of unnecessary elements, focusing on the essence of the object and the inherent properties of the material, to present works that are non-imitative and non-representational.

Based in Busan, Objecthood Gallery seeks to introduce the artistic worlds of emerging domestic and international artists who understand and interpret this pure concept of objecthood. The gallery also serves as a new platform to offer moments of relaxation and leisure in our modern lives.


OBJECTHOOD

The Body of Permanence

Works are landscapes with blurred shapes that drift and become entangled due to numerous traces of brush strokes and erasures. The vision, which cannot be fixed, changes everything fluidly without exception, and the gaze of a precise moment naturally blurs and disappears. The characteristics of the gaze captured by the artist are intuitively transferred to the flatness of the painting as if scrawling long with rhythmic movements. The artist records what she sees on the screen by repeatedly filling and removing unrealistically intense colors and building up layers.

Architecture is a practice of space and design—and also of sociology, history, philosophy, literature, and more; it is art in action and interaction, use and relation. Directed by an architect, “The Untitled Void” is a space intended for thought, inviting the formulation of new and living questions rather than the simple display of packaged conclusions.

The Untitled Void values collaborative process as a part of our curatorial approach. We are committed to showcasing artists and projects that trouble binaries and transcend the ego, boldly engaging the issues of our shared past, present, and future. Shin Junmin (b. 1985) majored in painting at the College of Fine Arts and the graduate school of Yeungnam University. As a "walker" in everyday life, he has developed a deep interest in the various forms of light, both natural and artificial. His work focuses on visualizing intangible elements such as the day's wind, air, temperature, and sound, all of which contribute to his exploration of light in his paintings.

He has held a total of 10 solo exhibitions to date, including White Out (2024, Pipe Gallery), White Shadow (2024, Artspace Purl), and New Light (2022, Boan Yeogwan 1942). His notable awards include being named Young Artist of the Year (2015, Daegu Culture and Arts Center), Suseong Emerging Artist (2017, Suseong Artpia), Young Artist Support Program (2018-2019, Daegu Foundation for Culture), Ha Jung-woong Young Artist (2019, Gwangju Museum of Art), and First Career Support for Young Artists (2022, Korea Arts Council).

Space776 exhibits early to mid-career artists who work in a variety of mediums ranging from live multimedia performance art to traditional oil painting. The gallery accommodates artists from around the globe, taking their works to local and international art fairs such as Volta New York, Volta Basel, Art Miami, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, and Art Busan. 
Space776 was founded in Bushwick, Brooklyn in 2013. In 2020, the gallery relocated to its current residence at 37-39 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Space776 also opened a location in Seoul, South Korea in 2020 in accordance with the gallery’s mission to promote the international exchange between local New York artists and the Korean artistic sphere.

Contradictions in Denim #04

Ryan Lee is based in New York and has held exhibitions in Chicago, Valencia, and Sacramento. The artist's work statically presents everyday spaces and flat, banal scenes. Scenes containing still life that highlight the absence of humans capture an unclear, open story as if someone has just passed by or may be approaching. It is full of the ambiguity of not knowing when and what will happen, and the production is cropped from a third perspective as if you are watching through CCTV. The work leads us to deeply observe familiar things, adds imagination and psychological anxiety, and, unlike the reproduction of everyday life, it is no longer distant from the ordinary.

Lee Seokyoung, who explores the revitalization of daily life through painting, transforms its complexities into expansive swaths of color, leaving behind only visual language and sensory experience through the technique of 'erasure drawing' on the surface of wet paint.

The process of exposing large areas of color on the white canvas surface evokes a sensation where the body seems to command the space. As one moves across the canvas, the living gesture of a single brushstroke becomes visible, rather than the mere accumulation of layers. This requires intense concentration from the artist, resulting in a canvas that breaks free from conventional, rigid structures. In these moments, the artist follows the direction of sensation through the colors of wet paint. Through the instantaneous act of drawing and erasing, shapes emerge, reborn as a neutral and pure language.

The four leaves left by the shadow

“Cosmos” is one of a series of works titled <Fragments>, revealing the artist’s philosophy that our emotions and lives are not intact, but a process of emptying, growing, refining, and finding balance. The artist visualizes our lives and feelings on the canvas using line and color, excluding other media and expressive techniques in an attempt to capture something with the flow of the brush alone. The connection between the fragments that resemble scars and the process of struggle and triumph in our life conveys that the journey is beautiful in and of itself. He hopes that the audience would experience the beauty of emptying themselves of their own demands, difficulties, hurts, and sorrows and filling themselves with something new.

Shigeki Matsuyama is a Japanese contemporary artist. His work was shaped by his early career as an illustrator and his philosophical reflections following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. He has since pursued a more conceptual art practice, reinterpreting through his work the impact of modern society's consumerism, pop culture, media, and technology on the human experience. His works provide visual play through the use of repetitive patterns and intense colors, and he is expanding his artistic expression through various media,
including not only painting but also objects and installations.

Artist JaeBum Joo is a leading figure in the realm of pixel art in South Korea, garnering international acclaim for his distinctive vision. He has collaborated with an array of prestigious global brands, including Google, Starbucks, Nexon, Gentle Monster, Adobe, Uniqlo, Hypebeast, and entertainment giants such as SM, YG, and JYP. Through these partnerships, he has firmly established himself as a singular force in the world of illustration, all while pursuing his personal artistic endeavours with unwavering curiosity and innovation.

His work is deeply rooted in personal experience and perception. Having discovered his artistic identity through the 8-bit graphics of the cartoons and animations he grew up with, he has seamlessly woven nostalgia with contemporary technology to cultivate a style uniquely his own. For him, pixels are not merely a nod to retro aesthetics; they serve as a bridge between digital interfaces—such as animation and gaming—and the language of traditional painting, unlocking new dimensions of expression. In his hands, pixels transcend their conventional role as the smallest unit of a screen, becoming colour, form, and a sensory experience in their own right.

The artist Lee Seokyoung, who expresses the ventilation of everyday life through her painting work, transforms the complex state of daily life into expansive colors and uses the technique of "erasing to draw" on the wet surface of the paint, leaving only visual language and sensory experience. The process of revealing the broad colors on the white canvas creates a space where the body of the painting can take control. The live brushstrokes, made in a single sweep without layering multiple coats, demand the artist's intense concentration and create a composition that breaks free from conventional and rigid systems. In this process, by erasing between the wet paints, the work is not obliterated but reborn through exposure, transforming into a neutral and pure form of language.

Dohyun Kim has visually expressed internal rest, recovery, and stability on the canvas. He fills the canvas with irregular patterns of cardboard shaped in flat waves and colors it with stable hues reminiscent of nature, abstractly visualizing the human inner realm. Within the screen constructed of repeated lines and gaps, and within the rhythm of layered and filled colors, he builds the order of spontaneously emerging forms, colors, and spaces.

Duri Baek expresses the will to live through the light that illuminates the plants and the shadows behind them. The light that shines on the plants simultaneously creates the darkness of the shadows. The light and shadows that fall on the plants show their fierce determination and efforts to survive.The works in <Transition> are colored yellow for light and green for shadow. In the past, Baek's paintings have been characterized by the light and shadow of trees, poles, roots, and plants on rocks in the "빛의 자리","마중" , and "바위 위", but this time, the land, which is the basis of recovery, occupies a large area of the painting. <Transition> shows a green shadow falling on a neglected yellow ground, and tells the story of the beginning of life.


Based on an interest in 'how a wishing heart manifests in daily life,' Seokwoo Chung visualizes the energy emitted when a being strives toward something. He is fascinated by the flow of consciousness formed from cause and effect, and by the culture of wishes permeating the mundane. Drawing inspiration from the fundamental cultures of various religions, his current work extends the realm of the canvas by basing it on painting and incorporating installations in space. He implements a device that amplifies the characteristics of each, by going through various processes with painting works that correspond to the nature of specific spaces or places.

Gyume is interested in the form in which invisible things such as air, wind, appearance, and extinction are visualized in the digital space and overlaps the images collected through it into the actual painting space. It freely uses the large and distinct cadence and vitality created by irregular shapes and lines, flexible brushes and paint marks as if swimming in aesthetic space.

Luke Park creates a new beauty through the aesthetics of imperfection and minimal expression on an empty canvas. The artist, who majored in Business at Hongik University and received a master's degree in Arts and Cultural Management from the graduate institution, is claimed to have been interested in traditional Japanese culture for a long time. In particular, the Japanese dry garden culture, known as Zen Garden, influenced his current style of painting. Instead of incorporating incidental components in his works, he attempts to convey the meaning solely through the flow of brushstrokes. Exploring the true nature of life, the artist reveals via his works the necessary approach to life in our materialistic society. 

Jina Jung creates paintings and new media art that alter the invisible properties of changing water, wind and other elements in nature. She completed master's degree in the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) MPS at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. The artist takes photos of nature or collects such images from the web and stores of VR and 3D space software, then renders them into unrealistic sceneries in VR or video works. She then reassembles the flattened objects, or the visible and penetrable scenes seen in the virtual space on a canvas as a painting. Through the process of transforming and capturing a space that actually exists into an unfamiliar image, she provides an opportunity to consider the logic of subverted nature.

Wonmi Seo expresses anxiety and trauma based on autobiographical experiences, societal experiences, and psychological landscapes through the language of painting. She graduated from Sungkyunkwan University and currently resides in Seoul, where she engages with audiences through various exhibitions of her work. The artist combines and deconstructs common materials and symbols, concealing and reinterpreting the ordinary. With this process, her works represent the unrestrained desires of humans today, a collection of characters with shattered and chaotic lifestyles, and the trauma linked with death in Korean history. She believes that viewers of her works will experience the separation of subject and object of the self and will be able to focus on the works and project themselves into them.
